A few practical answers about how Formist works, what we do, and how engagements begin.
About
What does Formist Studio do?
Formist works across design, strategy, and intelligent systems to help organizations shape products, services, ventures, and transformation.
What makes Formist different?
We bring strategy, design, and systems thinking into the same conversation, so work moves with more clarity and less friction. The focus is not just ideas, but outcomes which are thoughtful, well built, and made to last.
Where is Formist based?
Formist works across Europe, the US, and other markets through a flexible, distributed model.
What kinds of clients do you work with?
We work with ambitious teams at different stages, from emerging ventures to established global organizations. Most clients come to us when they are navigating complexity, change, or growth and need a clearer path forward.
Services
What kinds of work do you take on?
We work across strategy, digital products, platforms, intelligent systems, and venture design. Engagements range from early framing and research through to delivery, launch, and scale.
Do you work across specific industries?
Yes. We work across sectors including mobility, health, retail, enterprise, environmental technology, finance, and consumer products. The common thread is complexity, change, and the need for better decisions.
Do you combine strategy and design in the same engagement?
Yes. In most cases, strategy and design work best together. We use research, systems thinking, and design to shape direction and move it into execution.
Can we work with you on a focused scope, such as UX or visual design?
Yes. Some engagements are broad, others are tightly defined. We can support focused scopes where that is the right fit, especially when there is a clear need and a clear decision to support.
Process
How do you typically work with clients?
We work closely and collaboratively, with a structure that fits the team, the challenge, and the pace of the work. That usually means a mix of working sessions, reviews, async collaboration, and clear decision points.
What does a typical engagement look like?
Most engagements move from alignment and framing into research, design, validation, and delivery. The exact shape varies, but the goal is always the same: reduce friction, make stronger decisions, and build momentum.
Do you work with Agile, sprints, or other delivery frameworks?
Yes. We adapt to the way each team works. That can include Agile, sprint-based collaboration, lean delivery, or a more tailored structure depending on maturity, pace, and scope.
What tools do you use to collaborate with clients?
We use the tools that best support the work and fit the client team. That often includes Figma, Notion, Slack, Linear, GitHub, and other shared platforms for planning, design, and delivery.
Timelines & Engagement
What timelines do you usually work within?
That depends on the scope. Some engagements are short and focused, while others run over a longer horizon. Most projects sit somewhere between a few weeks and a few months.
What engagement models do you offer?
We work through three engagement models: Turnkey, Time & Materials, and Retainer. The right model depends on the scope, pace, and stage of the work.
Do you offer discovery phases or audits?
Yes. Discovery, audits, and early-stage assessments are often a strong way to begin. They help define the problem clearly, reduce risk, and create a better basis for what comes next.
Getting Started
How do we get started?
The best place to start is a conversation. Once we understand the challenge, the context, and the goals, we can recommend the right next step and shape an engagement around it.
How do we know if Formist is the right fit?
Formist is usually the right fit for teams looking for thoughtful collaboration, strategic clarity, and strong execution. If the work calls for depth, care, and a design-led approach to complexity, there is usually a good basis for a conversation.
