Responsible systems. Measurable impact.

Formist approaches ESG as a practical design, strategy, and systems challenge. We look for ways to reduce waste, improve accountability, and build solutions that are more resilient, equitable, and durable over time.

Principles:

  • Responsibility in design

    • We aim to reduce unnecessary energy, material, and operational overhead across products, systems, and ways of working.

  • Equity in outcomes

    • We design with broader access, inclusion, and long-term social value in mind.

  • Governance in practice

    • We favor transparent decision-making, measurable progress, and accountability over symbolic claims.

Practice:

We apply ESG through a simple framework that helps identify gaps, guide responsible decisions, and measure progress over time.

ESG Framework

Diagnose Risks

Measure Outcomes

Track progress with transparent data and continuous improvement

Design Responsibly

Identify environmental, social, and governance gaps

Embed sustainability and equity in every solution

Impact:

We track the environmental impact of our own digital footprint as part of the work. According to the Website Carbon Calculator, our site currently receives a carbon rating of E — meaning it emits more CO₂ per visit than 57% of web pages tested globally.

  • Footprint:

    • 0.31g of CO₂ is produced per page view

    • With ~10,000 monthly visits, that’s 37.26kg of CO₂ annually —
      equivalent to:

      • boiling water for 5,048 cups of tea

      • driving an EV 300 miles (483km)

      • charging a smartphone 6,285 times

      • the carbon absorption of 2 trees per year

    • Squarespace, our hosting provider, does not currently offer a green-energy hosting option, so our near-term focus is on efficiency, performance, and lower-impact design decisions.

Responsibility is not a layer. It is part of how the work is built.
